About Us
Hello, I am Claire, the owner of Hounds and Hands Clinical Canine Massage Therapy.
I have completed and passed an in-depth two-year Clinical Canine Massage Practitioner Programme at the Canine Massage Therapy Centre, which is externally accredited by LANTRA. I am a fully insured member of the Canine Massage Guild.
As a member of the Canine Massage Guild, I am committed to continual development to ensure my skills remain current.
Dogs have always been a huge part of my life and I’ve had the pleasure of owning a variety of breeds from Spaniels, Beagles, Greyhounds, Whippets, Labradors, and Border Terriers, all with their own unique personalities that have given me so much love and fun over the years.
My passion for canine rehabilitation started after leaving school, and I worked at a veterinary surgery covering a mixture of both small animal and equine nursing. More recently when my Labrador Jack collapsed, he was diagnosed with Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD) and underwent spinal surgery at the Royal Veterinary Collage. Supporting Jack through his rehabilitation rekindled my passion and awareness of the crucial role massage therapy has in aiding our dog’s rehabilitation and improving their comfort levels.
Five years ago, we welcomed Betty, a three-year-old rescued Brittany Spaniel, into our home. She has accompanied me on my journey with canine massage and has demonstrated the positive impact it can have on anxious and sensitive dogs. Seeing the results and knowing that you are giving a dog comfort and supporting them to live their best life for as long as possible is an incredible feeling.
